  • The ‘short nose crank bolt’ torque of 80-87 ft-lbs was updated in a Mazda paper as early as 1991, to 97-104 ft-lbs. Recent work by frequent posters on miata.net have a number of only successful installations with torques as high as 115 ft-lbs. The original Mazda spec has been less reliable over time in reassembling, and experience shows no risk by increasing to the later Mazda spec in work by many Miata owners.
